Graduation Day

9 a.m. - Baccalaureate - Tent
10 a.m.- Class photo - Jr. Room
11 a.m. - Graduation

Here is a description of the traditional Webb Dress for commencement.

Young Ladies:  For Baccalaureate, graduates may wear a dress other than their white graduation dress.  These dresses should be tasteful and appropriate for the occasion.  This is not a party or social event, and I hope that all young ladies will be respectful of the event in their choice of dress.  The same is true for the white graduation dress.   Additionally, there are times when the weather can be cooler, and a white button up sweater/shrug may be needed.  Dress shoes or dress sandals are also part of the outfit.  Each female graduate will be given a Webb graduates’ necklace at graduation rehearsal which they are encouraged to wear.

Young Gentlemen:  Most males wear the same outfit for both ceremonies - school blazer, white dress shirt, khaki pants, proper shoes, and socks.  In addition, each graduate will be given a special graduates’ tie the day before graduation.  We would like all males to wear this tie for the graduation ceremony and the class picture.

I started collecting pictures from various schools with unique graduation dress [not cap & gown] like Webb.

I began curating the pictures on a  Pinterest Board .

College Counseling Website

Plan now for Fall Break college visitsOct. 7-11.  College counseling urges seniors and parents to visit college/university campuses near and far over Fall Break, particularly since seniors need not return to Webb until Wednesday night, Oct. 11.  Mr. Hunter and Ms. Newberg are great resources for college/university visit planning.

Seniors have begun meeting individually with Mr. Hunter and Ms. Newberg to discuss college lists, testing plans, and personal essays, and seniors continue to meet with the college counselors in groups during the school day on Fridays to create accounts on Common Application, update Naviance, begin completing college/university applications, etc.

Parents' Weekend college presentations on Friday afternoon, Sept. 15 in the Barton Athletic Center classroom will include "What's Important in Planning for College Admission" with Sarah Butler, University of the South, as well as Mr. Hunter and Ms. Newberg from 3:00 to 4:00 pm.  Mr. Eric Farmer, Tennessee Student Assistance Commission, and Sarah Butler, University of the South, will present "Paying for College: Understanding College Financial Aid" from 4:00 to 5:00 pm.

College/university admission representatives have begun visiting Webb, and will continue to do so through October.  Students who would like to meet with college/university representatives visiting when the student has class must confer with teachers 2 class days out to request verbal permission.  Students with no class conflicts may meet with any/all college admission visitors during their free periods.

Fall SAT and ACT Registration Deadlines are coming soon.  Seniors taking the SAT on Oct. 7 must register by Sept. 8, and students planning to take the ACT on Oct. 28 need to sign up by Sept. 22.  Remember that this registration responsibility and the task of ordering test results to be sent to college/university admission offices rests with the student.

Questions about anything noted here or related to the college admission process? Please ask us.  Thank you for the opportunity to work with your student.

Mr. Bruce Hunter
Director of College Counseling

Ms. Jamie Newberg
Assistant Director of College Counseling
